I think I’ve mentioned it before, I’m not very comfortable with change/not being in control of situations. Well going abroad is basically a 4 month long opportunity for me to GET comfortable with change and be able to deal with not being in control, and I’m really excited about it!
My first opportunity to get use to it came today, six days before I even leave for Rome. I got an email from one of my roommates saying that she was interested in going to Venice for Carnival the first weekend we are there and was wondering if anyone else wanted to go. My first instinct was, “Well, maybe I shouldn’t. There are things that we are probably suppose to do on our first weekend. What would we do when we are there? Should I already start spending money?” and so on.
But then I thought, “This is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. These 4 months are my time to do new things, see new places, and meet new people. When is the next time I’ll be able to go to Carnival?”
So I said yes! I’ll be going to Venice for a weekend of Carnival a tradition that has been celebrated for over 700 years!
And yes, as I was writing my response I was nervous and my heart was beating faster, but as soon as I sent my email I became excited! And I’ll keep that in mind the next time an opportunity comes along while in Rome, even if it makes me nervous it’ll be worth it to just jump in!
This sounds so exciting. Can’t wait to hear more about it
You will never regret taking this big leap!
